When it comes to music ambassadors, the UK is really spoiling us this week. British artist trade body the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) has announced 15 new ‘artist ambassadors’ to join its efforts. Skin from Skunk Anansie; duo Nova Twins; house music legend Larry Heard; Stiff Little Fingers frontman Jake Burns; and The Anchoress are among the 15.

“In the current situation, it is more important than ever to have a strong, united and representative artist body. The newly announced Artist Ambassadors come from a broad range of genres, backgrounds and stages in their careers,” said FAC Artist in Residence Dave Rowntree, of Blur.

In separate ambassadorial news, Tim Burgess of the Charlatans (not to mention the #TimsTwitterListeningParty initiative, which is going from strength to strength) has been named as the ambassador for June’s Love Record Stores Day event in the UK. Set to happen on 20 June, it’ll encourage music fans to buy from independent stores who are trading online.

“The idea of what we would do without physical record shops has been a question we’ve asked in the past, but now it’s looking more possible than ever and we need to do whatever we can to help,” said Burgess. “Like an animal threatened with extinction – we need to organise ourselves to try and stop it happening.”
