Drive-in cinemas in the US are having a bit of a moment when it comes to live music, as venues that by definition are well suited for socially-distanced concerts. A Garth Brooks concert on 27 June will be shown at more than 300 drive-in cinemas, for example.
Now fellow country star Brad Paisley is one of the draws for Live Nation’s first series of drive-in concerts, launched under the banner of ‘Live From the Drive-In‘. They’ll take place on 10-12 July in Indianapolis, Nashville and St Louis, with Paisley headlining all three concerts.
Darius Rucker and Jon Pardi (Nashville), Nelly and El Monstero (St Louis) and Pardi again plus Yacht Rock Revue (Indianapolis) will be the other headliners.
The artists will perform full sets on stages at the venue, with each ticket reserving a space for a single car with up to four people, plus a ‘tailgate space’ next to it that’s “about the size of a 2 car garage” for sitting, dancing and drinking.
Sanitizers, masks for staff (and advised for concertgoers when using the toilets) and merchandise shipped to fans’ homes rather than sold on-site will also be part of the safety measures. Ticket prices will start at $125 per vehicle, according to Billboard.
