Shazam hasn’t just been a good source of data for Apple since it acquired the music recognition app: it’s a handy marketing tool too. As witnessed by the Apple Music end-of-year promotion that’s been launched within Shazam.
Until 17 January, anyone who downloads and tags a song using Shazam can get up to five months of Apple Music for free – essentially an extended introductory trial. This is for people who haven’t used Apple Music before, as is often the case with such offers.
There’s a big audience for the promotion too: Shazam announced earlier this month that it now has more than 200 million monthly active users.
