In August, Cardi B became the most prominent musician yet to launch a subscription on membership community OnlyFans, which had previously been known mostly for its use stars of the adult entertainment world.

Cardi B charged $4.99 a month for her OnlyFans subscription, promising exclusive content for fans (while specifying “NO I WON’T BE SHOWING PU*SY, TI**IES AND A*S” to ensure nobody got the wrong idea). Now it seems she may have been prescient in her adoption of the platform: Bloomberg reports that a single post by Cardi B of behind-the-scenes footage from the ‘WAP’ music video generated nearly $1k in tips, while OnlyFans CEO Tim Stokely told is that the company is now adding as many as 500,000 new users (as in fans) a day, and paying out $200m a month to its community of creators.

“The company has 85 million users, upward of 1 million creators, and will generate more than $2 billion in sales this year, of which it keeps about 20%,” claimed the report. Stokely’s pitch to stars is direct: “Look, you’ve got a million followers on Instagram, if just 1% of them pay for Only Fans…”
