Remember when lyrics site Genius was working with Spotify on a feature called ‘Behind The Lyrics‘ that showed extra information and artist quotes about the lyrics to tracks as they played? Spotify has since built on that idea with its ‘Storyline‘ feature, as well as its recent exploration of artist ‘Stories’ as seen with Megan Thee Stallion.
‘Behind the Lyrics’ still exists though, and Genius is also evolving the idea for other platforms. For example: Instagram. Genius has launched something called ‘Lyric Reels‘ which involves using Instagram’s Reels feature to get artists breaking down their lyrics.
And guess what: it’s starting with Megan Thee Stallion, as well as 24kGoldn and Tate McRae. The 30-second lyric reels will be available on Instagram, but will also be promoted on individual lyrics pages on Genius itself.
