In early 2016, Apple launched a new app for musicians called Music Memos: a free, music-focused alternative to the Voice Memos app on iOS devices, for capturing ideas then exporting them to GarageBand or Logic Pro X. We haven’t heard much about it since, and now it’s shutting down.
“The Music Memos app won’t be updated after Music Memos version 1.0.7, and you won’t be able to download it after March 1, 2021,” explained Apple – although the app will still work and be available to re-download from people’s App Store purchase libraries.
“You should export your Music Memos recordings to your Voice Memos library to make sure you keep all of your recordings.” Interesting timing, given that just a couple of months ago, rival Spotify’s Soundtrap subsidiary launched its Soundtrap Capture app for a similar purpose.
