Bandsintown has released some new data on the livestreamed music events that it has been tracking in 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Billboard reported that the latest figures show nearly 61k livestreams between 25 March and 12 December, from nearly 20,000 artists. The most interesting point, though, is the growth in paid events. “In June, ticketed livestreams accounted for less than two percent of the total number of daily broadcasts. In November, following months of double-and-triple-digit percentage increases, they accounted for more than half,” it reported. 77% of the livestreams came from ‘buzzing’ artists (the term Bandsintown uses to describe artists with fewer than 10,000 people tracking them using its service) too.
