We’ve written a lot recently about YouTube’s premieres feature, and how artists and labels are using it. But gathering fans online to experience new (or old!) music together goes well beyond a single platform, and the idea of listening parties is enjoying a new surge of activity. Now there’s a startup for that, called Listening Party.

It’s the work of former SoundCloud and Songkick developer Lee Martin, and is currently in beta. “Give your music or podcast the moment it deserves by throwing a listening party for fans,” is the pitch, noting that Martin worked on what Music Ally described as the best listening party of 2020 – a global premiere for Future Islands’ album ‘As Long As You Are’.

Martin’s blog post about how that event worked, from October last year, may offer some clues about what he’s up to with Listening Party now.

Music Ally’s next Learn Live webinar will help you understand what’s required for artists to thrive in new international markets!
