There’s a surge of activity around David Bowie this week, marking the fifth anniversary of his death, as well as what would have been his 74th birthday.

Among that activity is an official TikTok channel, launched in partnership with WMG, Sony Music and Bowie’s estate. It follows the pattern of other similar partnerships struck by TikTok for heritage artists like John Lennon, Prince and Queen too.

It has created a playlist of licensed Bowie tracks (‘Heroes’, ‘Let’s Dance’, ‘Rebel Rebel’ and ‘Space Oddity’ among them) for TikTokers to use, and is launching a #TheStarman hashtag challenge this weekend that will encourage people to recreate Bowie’s famous looks from throughout his career.
