MediaNet is one of the longest established companies in the B2B digital music space, running services for other companies and brands.
In 2016 it was bought by Canadian collecting society Socan as part of its drive into technology ownership. Now, amid a strategic rethink at the society, Socan has sold MediaNet on to Audible Magic – the company better known for its audio watermarking and copyright detection products.
The deal will expand Audible Magic’s services into B2B licensing, while the company will also be deploying its tech with the Canadian PRO to “help Socan improve operational accuracy and reporting to publishers and songwriters”.
