Never has the track ‘Go Your Own Way’ seemed more fitting. Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks sold a majority of her publishing catalogue to Primary Wave in December; Lindsey Buckingham sold his publishing rights to Hipgnosis earlier this month; and now Mick Fleetwood has become the latest past or present Fleetwood Mac member to join the catalogue-selling party. It’s not publishing in this case though: Fleetwood has sold his royalty interest in Fleetwood Mac’s recordings – well, all of them apart from the band’s first two albums – to BMG.

It’s not a new relationship: BMG already worked with Fleetwood on 2020 tribute event Mick Fleetwood & Friends and its associated releases.

Three catalogue (or at least royalty interests) sales, to three investment companies. With better exploitation of these works one of the things those firms talk about when announcing their deals, it’s going to be interesting to see how they work together when needed.
