Vimeo’s latest funding round values the company at $5bn

We last wrote about video streaming service Vimeo in November 2020, when it raised $150m in a new funding round, as parent company IAC mulled a spin-off for the service. Now the company is turning to investors again, raising another round of $300m which IAC said values Vimeo at more than $5bn. In fact, it quantified the ‘more’ in that: a $200m tranche of the new funding valued Vimeo at $5.2bn, while the other $100m valued it at $5.7bn.

“The capital will provide Vimeo with additional cash to accelerate its investments in growth, innovation and talent,” said IAC, noting that it expects to complete its spin-off of Vimeo early in the second quarter of this year.

Having started life as a consumer-focused YouTube rival, Vimeo has evolved into more of a B2B platform, used by plenty of brands and corporations. It claims more than 200 million users: “from creatives to entrepreneurs to the world’s largest companies”.
