The sky didn’t fall in on the UK when it completed its exit from the European Union (Brexit) at the start of this year, but music is one of the areas where dark clouds have been gathering – thanks to the lack of forethought on the impact on British musicians touring the EU, and European artists touring the UK.
There’s hope that the respective authorities will thrash out an expansion of their deal to fix that, but in the meantime, British industry body the BPI is running a series of webinars to help labels grapple with the various consequences of Brexit. The four events, which are for BPI member labels, will cover movement of people; movement of goods; movement of VAT and movement of data, and kick off on 11 February at weekly intervals.
