Here’s some more positive news from the campaign in the UK to preserve the future of independent music venues hit by the Covid-19 shutdown.

The Music Venue Trust has taken 13 more ‘grassroots music venues’ (GMVs) off its ‘red list’ of venues in imminent danger of permanent closure. That’s nearly half of the 30 venues it warned were in this situation in November 2020, with the 13 including venues from Accrington and Bournemouth to Inverness and Sheffield.

Artists and fans alike had chipped in to raise awareness and donate money to the venues’ survival-crowdfunding campaigns. “The love shown for these venues continues to demonstrate how important they are to people and to our towns and cities,” said MVT CEO Mark Davyd.
