So long, Sony/ATV. Sony’s music publishing arm has been rebranded as Sony Music Publishing.

As the company was keen to remind people in its announcement, it’s not a new name, but rather one that’s returning 25 years after the formation of Sony/ATV retired the brand. And yes, there’s a new logo to go with this, which may look like a neatly-drawn blue squodge that makes your eyes go a bit funny if you look at it too long, but is actually *consults notes* “an abstraction of sound waves — with resonance and vibrations that express infinitely expanding opportunities for songwriters”.

The business itself continues as it has been, with Sony Music Publishing boss reporting to Sony Music chief Rob Stringer, with the overall Sony Music Group living within the wider Sony Corporation.
