Last month, Live Nation acquired a majority stake in livestreaming startup Veeps. Now its Ticketmaster subsidiary is announcing an expansion of its own efforts around livestreamed events.

The company actually started selling tickets for livestreams last year, but says it has seen an “explosion in virtual ticket sale” in recent months. It was the ticketing provider for Niall Horan’s recent Royal Albert Hall livestream, which sold more than 125k tickets.

So, expansion: Ticketmaster Livestream is the brand, promising “a truly global and cohesive offering to artists for their virtual events”. Its full launch came as Ticketmaster also created a new global music team, under the leadership of David Marcus with a new job title: EVP of global music.
