Acquisitions are shaking up the distribution market, but aggressive global expansion is also a key trend this year.
CD Baby’s latest spreading of its corporate wings is to Africa, where veteran management and publishing executive Sakhele Mzalazala is joining the company. He’s the distributor’s first hire in Africa, and will be focusing on South Africa and surrounding countries like Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Swaziland, and Namibia.
“I look forward to impacting positively on the careers of independent artists and labels, where they will have full control and ownership of the works,” said Mzalazala.
CD Baby now has 22 people working on its international team, nearly two years after the company was acquired by Downtown Music Holdings.
