Keychange is the initiative campaigning for gender equality in music, which has won plenty of friends with initiatives including getting festivals to work towards 50/50 gender splits on their stages.

Its latest expansion is in Iceland, where 14 festivals and other music entities have signed up to its Keychange gender pledge. What’s more, it has appointed composer Anna Thorvaldsdóttir and Iceland’s first lady Eliza Reid as ambassadors in the country, to drum up more support.

“Equality does not happen of its own accord, with some social media likes or shares, or with well-intentioned phrases. It takes concerted and sustained effort, a commitment to fight complacency,” said Reid in a statement.
