British startup Audoo has been winning friends in the industry with its technology for accurately tracking the music played in public venues and businesses, and reporting it to collecting societies.

As it continues its plans for rolling that tech out, it has bolstered its management team with the appointment of Will Mills as its chief commercial officer. Mills was previously chief revenue officer at LyricFind, and before that headed up music activities for Shazam.

Having raised £1.5m and been a winner at the Midemlabs startups contest in 2020, Audoo ended the year with £5.2m more funding from investors including Abba co-founder and Cisac president Björn Ulvaeus. Mills’ first job will be signing deals with collecting societies around the world.
