Despite the well-documented tensions with music rightsholders, musical activity on Twitch continues to surge. The latest example is the launch of a dedicated music channel on the service by Rolling Stone.

The publication is promising a daily news show and interviews as well as “a constant stream of live performances from both existing Twitch artists and established talent focusing on exclusive releases, behind the scenes jam sessions and multi-hour performance events”.

Marcus King and Ted Park are the first two artists to perform on the new channel, as part of a series of two-hour ‘variety’ streams running from 4pm-6pm ET over the course of this week. With sensitivities over licensing still running high, however, let’s hope neither artist suddenly gets replaced with folk music Metallica-style
