From the battle of the Bucks Fizzes in 2011 to duelling UB40s in 2016, it’s rarely fun to watch bands splinter into rival acts after their heyday. Now it turns out the same thing can happen with music/tech startups.

In February we reported on a comeback for Turntable·fm, a decade after its moment in the hype spotlight. However, the story turns out to be more complicated than that: there are TWO Turntables set to relaunch this year. Turntable·org is the one we wrote about last month, which has some of the original team members working on it. However, The Verge reported yesterday that Turntable·fm itself is also being revived, with co-founder Billy Chasen involved in that.

For now its site is just a password box and a message telling people to “email your favorite song… if it’s good, we’ll let you in”. Once we’ve decided whether to submit ‘Making Your Mind Up’ or ‘Red Red Wine’, we’ll let you know if we gain entry…
