Lyrics-focused firm Genius has a new president: Miki Toliver King, formerly chief marketing officer at the Washington Post, and before that EVP of operations at political news site Politico.

She’ll now be putting her experience from the news publishing space to work at Genius, with co-founder and former president Ilan Zechory shifting to a role purely as a board director. “Never has there been a more important time for the work of artists and creators to reverberate around the world, with Genius as its driving force,” said King. “Hearing Miki’s vision for Genius and our community of artists, creators, and fans excites me in a way reminiscent of our earliest days as a company,” added CEO Tom Lehman. Genius currently claims 100 million users globally, two million of whom contribute to its content.
