Thankfully for fans of British music of a certain era and geographic origin, Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess hasn’t spent the Covid-19 lockdown spouting conspiracy-theory claptrap. Instead, he launched Tim’s Twitter Listening Party to bring cheer to a growing community of music fans. Now he’s building on that to raise money to support independent venues by… selling earphones!
Burgess is working with tech firm Flare Audio to sell a set of Listening Party-branded earphones – the TLP1 – for £39.99, with £5 from every purchase going to the Music Venue Trust.
The launch came as Burgess was appointed as one of the charity’s patrons. “Formalising his status as a patron of MVT is a way for us to thank him for his considerable efforts and talk publicly about the projects Tim is working on to support venues,” said strategic director Beverley Whitrick. “Grass roots venues are a key part of the music world – we have lots to do. Time to get started,” tweeted Burgess.
The earphones will ship early in April, with pre-orders beginning on 26 March.
