Lil Nas X’s video for his latest single ‘Montero’ has been getting all the right people outraged since its release. It’s fair to say those people won’t be pointing their web browsers at Twerk Hero, the web game launched this week to promote the track.

Plenty of the rest of us will though: it’s a rhythm game that sees you twerking its admirably bouncy-buttocked hero to catch devil fork-shaped ‘temptations’ flying in from the edges of the screen, as ‘Montero’ plays. In truth, it’s the kind of promotional game that you play once, share with friends and then forget about – and frankly the collision detection with the temptations needs a bit of work. But in a campaign that has already seen Lil Nas X tangle with Nike and get conservative commentators in a froth, it’s another clever element.
