Jumping Jack Flash, NFTs are a gas, gas, gas! Literally – ‘gas’ being the fees required to mint and release an NFT – which is a handy and not-at-all-crowbarred-in intro to the news that Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has released one. It’s based on the ‘Eazy Sleazy’ track he’s just put out with Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, with the NFT being a partnership with visual artist Extraweg.

There’s a charitable angle though: the NFT comes in a strictly limited edition of one, and all the proceeds from its auction on the Nifty Gateway marketplace will be divided between the Music Venue Trust in the UK, Niva in the US, entertainment industry support charity Back-up, and environmental causes.

The auction runs for 24 hours, and at the time of writing (just over halfway through) the highest bid is $10.2k. So, no Beeple-style STONKS just yet, but there’s still time for the kind of bids that will provide the benefiting charities with more, ahem, satisfaction.

Music Ally’s next Learn Live webinar will help you understand what’s required for artists to thrive in new international markets!
