Influence Media is one of the latest entrants into the catalogue-buying market, having launched its $100m fund in March.
The company is making the fact that it was founded by women a key part of its brand: “It’s our core belief that female equity is just as important as female equality,” as co-managing partner Lynn Hazan put it at launch.
Now the company has announced its latest deal: to buy “select copyrights” from the catalogue of songwriter Ali Tamposi, including her share of songs of the calibre of ‘Havana’ (a hit for Camila Cabello); ‘Señorita’ (Shawn Mendes with Camila Cabello); ‘Let Me Love You’ (Justin Bieber with DJ Snake); ‘Save the Hero’ (Beyoncé); and ‘Airplane Pt. 2’ (BTS).
Influence Media will manage the copyrights, although in keeping with other deals of this kind, is not saying how much it paid for them.
