Music licensing firm Songtradr is on a bit of a roll-up at the moment. Since raising $30m of funding in July 2020 it has bought three other companies: Big Sync Music, Cuesongs and Song Zu. Make that four other companies: this week Songtradr announced the acquisition of startup Pretzel. It’s one of the companies offering ‘stream-safe’ music for creators on Twitch and YouTube to use in their live broadcasts.

Songtradr says that Pretzel already has more than 6m tracks in its catalogue, licensed from rightsholders, and has seen its monthly recurring revenues grow by 600% in the last year. “The explosive growth of lifestyle and gaming live streams opens up an array of opportunities for our artists and our clients,” said Songtradr CEO Paul Wiltshire.
