Audiomack

Streaming service Audiomack has been setting its sights strongly on Africa in recent times, and its latest deal continues that expansion. The company is working with telco MTN Nigeria on an ‘Audiomack+MTN Data Bundle’ scheme, which will enable MTN’s customers to get free access to Audiomack, as well as zero-rating the mobile data they use when streaming.

This ties in to a bigger trend in Africa: the hope that lowering data costs (or launching bundles of this kind) can spur the next wave of music streaming growth across the continent.

Audiomack said as part of the announcement that it has “millions of monthly active users in Nigeria” already. That’s interesting, given that the company recently said that it had 17 million monthly active users overall: meaning Nigeria alone (and Africa more widely) is already a big chunk of its user-base.
