The growth of Cameo has shown the potential for video-driven services bringing celebrities and fans together. Now there’s a new player in the space, Bright, which is focusing on live video chats rather than pre-recorded shout-outs.
There’s a music angle here: veteran manager Guy Oseary co-founded the company with former YouTube product manager Michael Powers.
Bright is using Zoom for the actual video calls, and according to TechCrunch will have an educational focus: “learning from people who are sharing their expertise with the community”. Celebs will decide how many tickets they want to sell for an online event, and Bright will handle the bookings process.
Oseary’s client Madonna is one of the first stars to sign up, with Shawn Mendes, D-Nice, Diplo and Kane Brown among the other musicians. Ashton Kutcher, Naomi Campbell, Amy Schumer and influencers the D’Amelio sisters are also on board. Bright will keep a 20% cut of ticket sales.
