Amid the licensing arguments, Twitch continues to build its stable of music programming. The latest example is a partnership with talent agency Wasserman’s music division to launch a channel called ‘There is Light‘.

Described as “an indie music discovery channel and concert series” it will broadcast 20 concerts from independent music venues in the US and UK for its initial run, kicking off last night with a Perfume Genius performance.

The concerts will follow the format of physical gigs every Tuesday and Sunday, with 90-minute livestreams including a support act and headliner. There will also be Q&As with fans after the set. Best Coast, Jpegmafia and Jade Bird are among the other artists already booked.

And since this is live music rather than DJ sets, the necessary licensing should be covered by Twitch’s collecting society agreements.
