Suntory Hall is a popular music venue in Tokyo, but like others across the world has been closed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Now it is making its move in livestreaming with the launch of ‘Digital Suntory Hall’.
It plans to hold online events, stream concerts, host a virtual backstage tour, an on-demand archive of videos, and an online shop. The plan is to hold events for online consumption both now, while the pandemic is still happening, but also once it subsides and physical concerts return.

In separate news, a group of 10 of Japan’s biggest promoters have formed a new body, the International Promoters Alliance Japan (IPAJ) with the goal of making preparations for the return of live concerts safely.
