During the Covid-19 pandemic, concert discovery service Bandsintown pivoted neatly to cover livestreams, including publishing regular data quantifying the burgeoning sector. Now it’s got some data to share on its original focus: physical concerts.
The company says that in recent weeks, the number of IRL gigs listed on its platform has more than quadrupled. There are now more than 222k future concerts listed, compared to 87k at the start of 2021. 78% of those future events are scheduled for this year.
“During May, we saw between 250,000 and 550,000 fans per day buying tickets on the platform. We can now predict that the number of fans purchasing tickets is on track to surpass pre-pandemic levels by the end of June,” said managing partner Fabrice Sergent. Encouraging news.
