We wrote about Swedish startup Dirac in April last year, when it raised a $6m funding round and added one of Spotify’s earliest executives, Jonathan Forster, to its board. Now the company is raising money again: just over $17.7m valuing the company at $142.2m.
Dirac is focusing on technology to improve sound quality for a range of devices, from headphones and smartphones to in-car systems. The company has signed deals with the likes of Onkyo, Philips, Pioneer and Philips in the last year.
“We have traveled a long way since company inception,” said CEO Peter Friedrichsen, who joined Dirac earlier this year. “We evolved from a niche designer of digital audio solutions for specific applications to a tier one company in audio technology, collaborating with many of the world’s largest and most esteemed tech brands.”
