It seems to be the day for partnerships. Alongside TikTok and Youth Music, there is also Patreon and Shesaid·so. The fan-funding platform is backing the diversity organisation’s 2021 Alternative Power 100 Music List (#AltList for short), and helping it to expand.
Traditionally published online, this year’s AltList will include an awards in December; 10 categories rather than just a list; and a Breakthrough Artist award for creators on Patreon.
The pair will also be holding virtual and physical events throughout 2021 with panel disucssions to talk about ‘the new creative economy’. The partnership builds on Shesaid·so’s use of Patreon for its own funding purposes: it launched on the platform in September 2020.
