Not content with piling into the decentralised finance (DeFi) and NFT spaces, distributor Ditto Music is also expanding into publishing. It has formed a new division, Ditto Music Publishing, which will sit alongside its existing distribution and management arms.
The company says it will be collecting publishing royalties from more than 150 territories, and pitching music for sync purposes.
Ditto has also announced the deal terms for its new division: it will charge writers $49 a year, then take a 10% commission on royalties and 20% on sync revenues. Co-writers will be able to sign up for free.
“It will help demystify a complicated area of the music business and make it easy and cost effective for artists and songwriters to collect all of the royalties they’re due,” said Tom Weller, who’ll head up the new division.
