Global Citizen’s ‘One World: Together at Home’ livestream raised more than $127m for Covid-19 relief last year. The organisation has continued its campaigns since then, and is now preparing its most ambitious music event yet.

Global Citizen Live‘ is happening on 25 September, and will be a 24-hour rolling broadcast with performances from across the world. BTS, Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Lizzo, Metallica, Lorde, Shawn Mendes and The Weeknd are among the artists on board, with a strong African contingent including Burna Boy, Davido, Tiwa Savage and Femi Kuti.

Traditional broadcasters and digital platforms alike will be airing the event (YouTube and Twitter included in the latter), which carries the slogan ‘Defend the planet. Defeat poverty.’ This is not just a livestream however: CEO Hugh Evans told Variety that there will be live audiences for performances in New York and Paris. “This is not like what we did last year; this is live-live…”

Music Ally’s next Learn Live webinar will help you understand what’s required for artists to thrive in new international markets!
