The latest AI music startup is coming out of Sweden. Starmony has just raised a SEK 30m (around $3.4m) funding round to continue developing its AI-powered music-making app. It’s in the same ballpark as existing startups like Humtap and Vochlea, in that it starts with humans singing, and then creates music around that.
“We aim for the next generation of artists – those who are creative at Tiktok and sing against ready-made backgrounds,” co-founder Jan Nordlund told DI Digital. He was previously a producer (for Bass Nation) and then a co-founder of streaming compilations firm X5 Music, which WMG acquired in 2016.
Brightly Ventures and Bonnier Ventures are among the investors in his new startup’s latest funding round, with the company set to expand beta testing of the app in the coming months.
