Betteridge’s Law of headlines dictates that ‘any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no’. This may be one of the exceptions that proves the rule though: there are strong rumours that Ariana Grande is going to follow in Marshmello and Travis Scott’s footsteps with a high-profile concert in Fortnite.
It’s certain that somebody is going to be: the game’s publisher Epic Games announced plans for ‘The Rift Tour’ for 6-8 August: “a musical journey into magical new realities where Fortnite and a record-breaking superstar collide”. The event will get its own tab in Fortnite’s menu, with various in-game quests to unlock virtual rewards.
Who will it be though? That announcement is coming on 2 August, but earlier this month Eurogamer reported on strong Reddit chatter that Grande would be the next music star working with Fortnite, as part of a leak from which other elements have since proved to be true. All eyes on the announcement next week…
