A group of independent music companies led by British firm Killing Moon Group are coming together to form a new organisation focusing on distribution, label and non-label services. It’s called The Music Federation, and alongside Killing Moon it includes Fierce Panda, Export Quality Records and Elephant Music among others.

It will also include artists, festivals, venues, booking agents and PR companies among its membership, while it has also signed a worldwide distribution deal with Believe. The Music Federation says that ‘free at the point of use’ studio services; advances (from October) and “access to artificial intelligence-based scouting” will be among the services it offers to members.

“The Music Federation provides everything you could possibly need in terms of human resource and services to found, run and expand a music business,” said Killing Moon boss Achal Dhillon, who will be CEO of the new entity. “There is power in creating a community that is built on a foundation of integrity, and there is money to be made in running your business in an ethical way,” added GM Siofra McComb.
