We wrote about Slip·Stream earlier this month: it’s the latest startup that has built a catalogue of music for YouTubers, Twitch streamers and other online-video makers to use without fear of copyright takedowns.
Now it has teamed up with professional Fortnite player Cody Conrod (aka ‘Clix’) to release an album. It’s called ‘Clix Stream Pack’ and is described as “an album of creator safe songs and beats curated by Clix for use on all streaming platforms, that’s actually good”.
So, the idea here is that Conrod chose a group of artists whose music he wanted to use – they include Lil Tjay, Baby Keem and Lil Tecca – for the album, which will be released to streaming services but also made available for creators to download and use in their own videos.
This model isn’t new: NoCopyrightSounds pioneered it back in the day. We’ll be interested to see how Slip·Stream’s take on it, which includes plans for other ‘packs’ fronted by gamers and creators, goes down.
