artlist for you

As listeners, we’re all well used to playlists like ‘Discover Weekly’ and ‘New Music Mix’ tapping data on our musical habits to serve up algo-personalised recommendations. That science is also finding a place in more business-oriented contexts too.

Artlist, for example, which is a company offering stock music, photos and footage to filmmakers and video creators. It has just launched a new feature called ‘For You’ (a knowing nod to TikTok’s famous feed, we assume) that offers recommendations to its customers based on their past activity on the service.

Artlist says it’s not just about more-of-the-same suggestions though. “We’re giving users recommendations that are suited to their tastes, but nevertheless exploratory and interesting, and maybe not something they would have gravitated towards if they were just clicking around their own playlists,” said head of AI Amit Ben Dor.

The feature came out of beta this week.
