One of the ways to avoid the ‘link in bio’ dynamic on Instagram is to use its stories feature, which enables swipe-up links for verified and business profiles. However, that appears to be changing. From 30 August, swipe-up links in stories will be replaced by ‘link stickers’, which will be found alongside Instagram’s existing range of digital stickers (for locations, hashtags, polls etc).
So, not a huge change, but what remains to be seen is whether the new link sticker is available to a wider number of users on Instagram. If it were available to everybody, for example, that would mean a lot more artists and music companies would be able to share links in their Instagram stories without needing to have reached 10,000 followers as a business account, or be verified.
This time next week, we should know whether they can.
