Abba join TikTok ahead of announcement of #ABBAVoyage project

We foolishly used up our best Abba song-title puns in a recent Portishead story, so we’ll have to play it straight now with the news that the legendary group have joined TikTok. They announced their debut on the social app with a piano-heavy clip of ‘Dancing Queen’, before teasing a big announcement on 2 September.

“Thank you for waiting, the journey is about to begin. Agnetha, Björn, Benny, Anni-Frid. #ABBAVoyage.” There is also a link to the ABBA Voyage website, which currently has the same ‘thank you for waiting’ message, and a pre-registration link to hear more about the project.

This has been bubbling for several years now, but with Covid-19 having rudely interrupted Abba’s plans for an avatar (or Abba-tar?) based world tour, it seems the curtain will finally be raised on the group’s plans later this week.

In the meantime, their music will be officially available on TikTok for people to use, with the app revealing that even before that the group was “the most searched for group and their sounds the most requested, without a dedicated profile or music catalogue”.
