We knew that Hipgnosis Songs Fund was interested in NFTs from the company’s recent annual report. “The NFT space is also a focus and we aim to ensure our artists are collaborating with some of the leading creators in the crypto art space,” wrote founder Merck Mercuriadis then. Now we’re getting an early look at what that means, via the company’s partnership with NFTs startup Serenade on a collection for Super Furry Animals.
It’s to celebrate the re-release of the band’s (excellent!) ‘Rings Around The World’ album this Friday (3 September). Four NFTs based on the album artwork will be released, accompanied by exclusive audio, available in between 10 and 100 editions each. There will then be a second collection launched on 24 September.
Meanwhile, as part of the celebrations there will also be an ‘SFA TV’ broadcast on YouTube, with pre-recorded documentaries and videos.
