Startup Wave has built its business through turning human artists into avatars to play virtual concerts. Now it’s trying the same thing with an already-virtual band. Pentakill are the rock band invented back in 2014 by Riot Games, developer of the game League of Legends, who sit alongside K/DA and True Damage in its virtual artists roster.

Now Pentakill are making a comeback in what Wave describes as “an epic virtual experience for the ages”. It will take place on 8 September, with a 30-minute pre-show followed by the hour-long concert.

There are going to be two experiences though. One, non-interactive, will be a livestream on YouTube and Twitch. The other, on Wave’s own platform, will see fans chatting, voting on what happens next, and potentially seeing themselves on the virtual ‘big screen’ that will be part of the show.

Music Ally’s next Learn Live webinar will help you understand what’s required for artists to thrive in new international markets!
