YouTube podcast the upload

People (including us) have often underestimated YouTube as a podcasting platform, but as Joe Rogan showed in his pre-Spotify days, it can be a powerful service for building an audience for long-form shows – even those that don’t have video.

Now YouTube is getting into podcasting itself, with an original show called ‘The Upload: The Rise of the Creator Economy’. So, less a completely new direction, and more just a new way for YouTube to get the message out about its native creators ecosystem.

The show will launch a new episode every Wednesday focusing on an interview with a different influencer who has built a successful business, starting with Lilly Singh. Journalist Brittany Luse will host, and the podcast will be available beyond YouTube itself: Spotify, Apple Music, Google Podcasts and more.
