Halsey is the latest artist tapping augmented reality (AR) technology to send fans on a treasure hunt. This one is in the US, and is a partnership with telco Verizon and art duo FriendsWithYou.
Fans can scan QR codes in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and Seattle using their smartphones to explore giant digital art, while listening to Halsey’s track ‘Darling’ and trying to win a new iPhone. There is also a version of the treasure hunt that fans elsewhere in the US (and world) can play from their homes.
It’s the latest in a long line of AR campaigns for artists, from the treasure hunts created by British startup Landmrk to the ever-growing number of AR filters, lenses and effects (choose your terminology according to platform) for musicians on Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and TikTok.
