Amazon is selling a Billie Eilish-branded Echo smart speaker

It has been hard to escape Billie Eilish’s face this year, so wide-ranging have the marketing and PR campaigns around her second album.

Now Amazon is putting that face onto a new model of its Echo Studio smart speaker: a limited-edition version costing $229.99 that appears to have already sold out of pre-orders, ahead of shipping in October.

The device will include a six-month free subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited.

“I can’t wait for my cutie fans to be able to listen to my new album Happier Than Ever in spatial audio, available on Amazon Music Unlimited,” said Eilish in the statement accompanying the announcement.

Which may sound like a regular canned quote, but we can’t help wondering whether on Amazon’s part it’s a not-so-veiled jab at Apple Music, which has been heavily promoting spatial audio as a key selling point for its own service…
