Next Big Sound was one of the first big third-party music analytics services, crowned as a winner at the MidemNet Labs (as it was known then) contest in 2011. Pandora bought it in 2015, but the platform continued tracking data on rival DSPs and social networks for its customers.

Until now: it is shutting down at the start of November.

“This is just the final step of a multi-year transition, and our team is excited to focus on improving and expanding the awesome marketing tools and data-driven insights available in Pandora’s Artist Marketing Platform,” announced Pandora on Friday.

One aspect that won’t be making the transition are Next Big Sound’s analytics on social data: the team will be focusing purely on Pandora metrics. “We’re really excited to move forward with a more focused, consistent experience for all of our users…”
