SongVest is one of the growing number of companies offering fans a chance to invest in music royalties. It has just launched a model called ‘SongShares‘ which does this by breaking up its investment opportunities into ‘fractional’ shares, with the promise that fans will be able to own a slice of songs for “as little as $20”.
There are lots of existing platforms for investing in royalties, so what will set this apart? SongVest is partly counting on the quality of its offering, launching with SongShares of songs recorded by the likes of Beyoncé, Travis Scott, Cardi B, Migos and Meek Mill.
It is also trumpeting its status as the first such platform to be accredited by US financial regulator the SEC as a public securities offering for music royalties, using its Regulation A+ system.
